As a small business owner, it can be difficult to keep up and stay consistent when it comes to creating and sharing content. 3 ways you can improve consistency with your content marketing: getting organized and creating a plan, setting realistic goals and/or deadlines, and using any available tools and resources to the fullest.

  1. Get Organized & Create A Plan

No one understands your schedule better than you. That’s why giving yourself a schedule to follow can be the best thing when staying consistent. Organizing all your ideas into: content I can create now, content that will take more time, content I need to flesh out more, etc. will give you a clear understanding of what you need to work on.

Having a content planner is also a wonderful tool to keep you organized and consistent. Here at The Seasoned Marketer we use a social media and content planner so we can stay on schedule and consistent with our content marketing. You can find our planner here.

 2. Set Realistic Goals & Deadlines

Let’s be realistic. If you are having trouble posting a video once a week, don’t set a goal to post a video once a DAY for yourself. You are setting yourself up for failure.

You know your schedule and your abilities better than anyone else. Give yourself realistic goals. If you are having trouble posting a video a week, focus on one video bi-weekly. As you gain experience you will find this deadline easier to manage, and then you will be able to move to a weekly video.

Quality over quantity. There are lots of “social media experts” out there that say you HAVE to post once a day. If you can post quality content once every day – that’s great. But if your quality takes a hit because of this deadline, then it is not realistic and is likely hurting you – not helping. Do whatever works best for you, so you can create QUALITY content you are proud to share.

3. Use Available Tools & Resources

Stop trying to do everything on your own! Use what you have available to you. Maybe you have an employee that can help you create content, or schedule it out for you. Using resources like Answer The Public or the comment section on social media can help you spark inspiration for content ideas. Using Google Drive to store your content can help you stay organized, this way you don’t lose something you created in the past that you might want to share again.

Tools like Opus Clips will allow you to quickly create short form video content from longer videos. We also use InShot to edit our short form videos quickly on our phones. Finding tools that will save you time and effort will greatly help you with consistency in your content marketing.

The key to being successful in your content marketing is consistency. That’s why these 3 steps are extremely important for your marketing strategy. For a deeper dive into each of these steps, and more on how to stay consistent – check out the video below.
