Event marketing can be stressful and time consuming – so are events actually worth it? As a small business, making sure you are participating in the right events and doing your due diligence can mean the difference between a successful event and a waste of time and resources. You do not want to be a dog groomer at a health fair for people (a health fair for animals would not be a bad idea).

Event marketing is a great way to interact with your local community and express to your target audience your principles as a small business. So how do you make sure you are at an event/pop up/craft fair that will work for you?

What Will I Get Out Of It?

Ask yourself the following questions:

Will I make money? / Will I collect good leads?

Is this an event my ideal customer/client would attend?

Will it move my business forward?

If you answer No to ANY of these questions then this event is not going to help your small business. Even if it seems like a fun event, your small business will not benefit from participating.
