Canva is THE tool for small business owners when it comes to marketing and creating content. Many people use it to create beautiful social media posts, posters, and even business cards. But did you know that you can do so much more with this online tool? Let’s go over some PRACTICAL Canva uses for small business owners.

Graphs & Charts

As a small business owner, there are many practical uses for creating graphs and charts. They can help you demonstrate value to potential customers, keep track of progress with specific initiatives, and communicate clearly with your staff.

The great thing about Canva is they have plenty of premade templates for you to choose from – so you don’t have to design your charts or graphs from scratch.  Templates include: Bar charts, Line graphs, Pie charts, Doughnut charts, Venn diagrams, T charts, Comparison charts, SWOT analysis, and more.

Remember: any template you choose is customizable. So if you don’t like a font, or you want the design to fit with your brand – this can easily be done!

Editing PDFs

We have ALL been there. You have a PDF that really needs to be tweaked and edited, but you don’t have a PDF editor (and you are not about to download one). Canva has an amazing feature that allows you to EDIT PDFS! Simply import the PDF in question to Canva, and you will be able to edit text and move things around.

The PDF does NOT have to be originally created in Canva. It will work with any PDF.

Invoices

Canva uses can include simple but useful templates. For example, you can create invoices in Canva! It is usually best practice to use your accounting software to create invoices, because they will be integrated and it’ll be easier for data to flow between them (and you won’t be manually inputting information constantly). However, if you do not have accounting software or just want your invoices to look more professional, then creating invoices in Canva are definitely an option. Canva even sorts their invoice templates by industry, having options for service invoices, commercial invoices, and business invoices.

While you can download your invoice in any form you prefer (jpg, png, pdf, etc.), it is best practice to send invoices as PDFs.

QR Codes

This is probably one of my favorite Canva uses. While there are many free and paid QR code generators out there, having all of your business designs in one place helps you stay organized. That’s why we use Canva to generate our QR codes. Canva allows you to insert a QR code in any of your designs, from postcards to business cards. It is important to keep track of each code and where they link to, because it can be hard (impossible) to tell them apart with just looks.

There are so many other Canva uses that can help out your small business. For a deeper dive into each of these practical uses, and an extra practical use, check out the video below.
