As we reach the midway point of 2025, small business owners may be feeling stuck when it comes to their social media content. To help small business owners keep up with their social media marketing, we share social media content ideas every month. For the month of May, small business owners should consider posting about summer, using audience interaction, and sharing monthly celebrations.

Summer

While this seems straightforward enough, there is so much you can do with the concept of Summer. If you have seasonal products then sharing your summer offerings will help customers stay updated on what you have. It could be that you use the nice weather to shoot new product photos to share.

It could be that you focus on common occurrences during the summer. Carousels about how to prep for a beach day, or a post about a children’s Summer program you’re participating in.

A great example of this would be a bookstore sharing content about a summer reading program they might have available for mothers and their children.

Audience Interaction

As a small business owner (and a content creator at this point), you should always be striving for audience engagement or interaction for your social media content. However, there are specific types of content that can garner more interaction. Sharing Ask Me Anything posts, or asking your followers for feedback is a great way to get people engaged.

It could be as simple as sharing a personal story (that relates back to your business or product), and asking others to share their own experiences.

You can also use stories to connect with your audience and get more engagement. Most stories offer stickers specifically for engagement. These include polls, questions, the sliding scale, and more.

We recently shared a post about National Small Business Week. We asked our audience to comment and share their favorite small businesses so that others can discover new ones to support.
