If you are a small business that is STILL not using video marketing in their strategy, this is your call to action. Video marketing is already a huge part of modern day marketing, and it is only going to get bigger in 2024. If you’re not sure where to start, this is our introduction to video marketing.
But I’m Shy
If your biggest deterrent for creating video content is the fact that you do not want to be on camera – that’s fine. There are ways to go about video marketing that does not have to involve YOU being on camera. Asking your staff to participate in videos is a great way to avoid being on camera AND creating a sense of community with your marketing. It is also possible to create videos that focus on your products – or even your guests! User generated content is also a great way to build a community, create a sense of authenticity, and get some great video content!
Be Aware: It will be harder for your customers to connect with you and your small business if you do not show up on camera. If you are hesitant to be in videos but still want to try to get in front of the camera, try out stories first! Instagram, Facebook, and even TikTok have stories that will disappear within a day. This gives you a chance to practice being in front of the camera while being low stakes (it won’t be on the internet forever).
I Can’t Edit
When watching TikTok or Instagram you might be thinking, “Wow, these people must be really good at video editing”. Here’s a little secret – they’re probably not. There are so many tools out there that can help you edit videos like a pro, including Camtasia, Descript, and INSHOT. When creating shortform video content, INSHOT is the best app out there. It has everything you could possibly need when editing, and it is super easy to use. If you are editing longer videos (think YouTube) then Camtasia and Descript are amazing tools as well.
You are still going to have to learn the ropes, but it is NOT difficult. If editing skills is what is stopping you from video marketing – do NOT let it!
What Do I Create
Video marketing is fun! Have fun with the type of content you are creating – just remember that it has to relate back to your small business in a way that makes SENSE. It is perfectly okay to follow trends and create video relating to them, but that cannot be the only type of content you create. A mixture of trends and evergreen content is important, not only so your content can be relatable and interesting for a longer period of time, but also to help you showcase your unique small business. Ideas for video content include: product videos, answering common questions, sharing fun facts, sharing your staff, etc.
