Creating social media content is hard. That’s why each month we share 3 content ideas we want small businesses to consider. Hopefully these ideas will spark inspiration and help you with your social media marketing.
First Content Idea: Spring and Growth
March is the beginning of spring, which can mean a lot of different things for different people. There are many different ways you can incorporate spring into your social media.
The simplest but most effective content about spring will be any spring related products or services your small business has. Share your limited edition products, or explain why your new services are only offered during the spring time. Either way, you always want to keep your customers informed about product/service changes. How is your target audience supposed to know about your limited edition spring scented candle unless you actually tell them about it?
You can also get a little more abstract with your spring content. Spring and new growth go hand in hand. Now is the perfect time to reflect and share the growth your small business has experienced. Your audience WANTS to hear about your wins and celebrate with you!
Our friends at Cotton Down South recently shared all the new spring decor items they now have available for purchase.
Second Social Media Content Idea: Give Back
Now more than ever, consumers want to know what your small business stands for. If you donate to a cause or support a nonprofit organization – share that with your target audience! Not only is this a great PR moment for YOUR small business, but it also helps get the cause/nonprofit in front of more people.
Even if you are not donating, just informing your consumers of the organization or cause and how you believe in it can be helpful. Consumers want to support businesses that align with their own values.
Example: Be The Change Charleston is a nonprofit organization in Charleston, South Carolina that works to help those with disabilities. Many of their business supporters will share their information and vice versa. This allows both Be The Change Charleston and their supporters to tap into their respective audiences and reach new people.
Third Content Idea: “Edutainment”
Consumers, now more than ever, want to be entertained. This has caused the birth and rise of “edutainment” social media content. This new category of content is based on the idea that educational content must also be entertaining, or people will simply scroll past.
Finding creative ways to inform and educate your target audience about your products/services can help you get in front of more people. This can be done through video skits, engaging carousels, and more.
National Days in March
National days and celebrations are a great way to connect with your target audience – as long as it makes sense. Creating content just to create content no longer works, and may actually hurt your social media presence. Here are some national days in March to consider.
