Small businesses can sometimes have difficulty coming up with easy content ideas for their social media. January is the perfect time to focus your social media content on reflection and changes, reintroducing your brand, and any national days you might find that relate to your small business.
Reflection & Change
This is one of the easy content ideas that can be really effective. The new year is the perfect time to share your story and your progress with your audience. The great thing about small businesses is that people WANT to see you win. Sharing the success you’ve seen in the past year can help you connect with your target audience, and is an easy content idea. Sharing the obstacles you’ve had to overcome in the past year can also help you build a stronger connection with your audience, because you are being open and honest with them. Consumers care about authenticity more than ever.
This is also the perfect time to announce any changes to your small business that may impact your consumers. Keeping your community informed will help them from feeling blindsided by change.
The following is an example of this type of post from Southern Curiosities. She talks about all the opportunities and experiences she had in 2024, and thanked her community for being here on the journey with her.

Reintroduce Your Brand
Hopefully your social media saw growth in the past year, which means some of your followers may not have the full picture of who you are as a brand. Take the time to reintroduce yourself, and all the key components of your brand. This can include your mission and vision statements, the story of how your small business was created or why, and any other information you find important to share with your target audience.
We recently reintroduced ourselves on our social media.
National Days
National days can be a fun and creative way to connect with your target audience. The key for this to work successfully is for the national day to correlate with your small business. Posting content just to post something can be seen as spammy, so make sure that your content is fun, relatable, and actually makes sense for you to post.
Here are some national days in January to consider:
- January 8 – National Winter Skin Relief Day
- January 10 – National Bittersweet Chocolate Day
- January 15 – National Bagel Day & National Hat Day
- January 19 – National Imagination Day
- January 21 – National Hyaluronic Acid Day
- January 24 – National Compliment Day
- January 31 – National Hot Chocolate Day
