If you are new to the craft fair/market scene, you may be wondering how exactly you are going to stand out from other vendors. To attract customers at a craft fair you should focus on the following: body language, your display, and how you interact with passersby.

Body Language
Putting yourself out there can be difficult and uncomfortable, especially if you’re an introvert and/or are new to the market scene. The issue is – if you look uncomfortable then you are going to make potential customers uncomfortable. Making sure your body language is not closed off, but instead inviting, can make a huge difference and help attract customers. This means no folded arms, or sitting behind your table. Instead try to stand in front of your display, smiling, and making eye contact with those you are talking with.
2. Your Display
Your display is a visual representation of your brand. Creating an engaging and visually pleasing display will attract customers because they are intrigued. Creating dimension, having your business logo/information visible, creating a theme, and finding unique ways to display your products are all ways you can make your display stand out.
3. How You Interact
Possibly the most important part of how to attract customers is how you interact with them! The ability to interact and draw in passersby will help you have a successful market. Double checking your body language and standing in front of your display are the first steps. Drawing people in can include promotional pieces or simply making small talk! A great example is offering people a free sample of your product.
Important tip: Have a conversation WITH people – do not just talk AT them. Starting a conversation with a hard sales pitch is going to make people uncomfortable. Instead, think of ways you can weave your small business into the conversation naturally.
