While it is important to find the habits and tools that help build up your marketing, it is just as important to find and put an end to habits that are destroying your marketing. There are a couple of habits that might be holding you back in terms of getting your small business in front of potential customers.
Not tracking or analyzing your marketing data means that you are making decisions blind. We understand that calculating ROI and analyzing data can be difficult and time consuming, but not doing so will make decision making more difficult than necessary. Marketing data should be used to help you understand what motivates your target audience to invest in your product or service. This is also true for your website’s analytics. Looking at your website’s analytics will help you understand what your customers enjoy and what changes need to be made. An example of this is what page people spend the most time on.
Not all of your customers are looking for the same product or service experience. If you are not segmenting your customers and instead simply sending everyone the same messaging, STOP! Segmenting your audience will allow you to give everyone a customized experience, and send them targeted messages that you know they specifically will be interested in.
Once you have completed a marketing initiative, do not simply mark it as completed and move on to the next project. You need to consistently check that your information is correct or up to date. For example, if you change your business hours but do not change your website or Google profile then your customers might be receiving the wrong information. Double checking your public facing information will help correct any discrepancies.
Ultimately if you steer clear of these 3 habits and instead work to fix these issues then you should be able to improve the marketing for your small business exponentially.
