A great way to gauge whether your target audience is enjoying your social media content is by how many likes and comments you get on your posts. Maybe you are not getting as many likes and comments as you are used to or as many as you would like.

Here are 3 common culprits that might be stopping people from interacting with your content.

Posting External Links

Facebook wants your undivided attention, and their goal is to create a platform with everything you are looking for – i.e. they do not want you to leave the app. Keep in mind that Facebook is the platform, it is owned by the company Meta. Adding external links can cause Facebook’s algorithm to push your content out less than it would if you shared the content directly onto the platform.

Video Content

Content is queen now, and every social media platform is focusing on video content. With short form videos (reels) being pushed by the Facebook’s algorithm, not posting videos could be hurting your views and social media interaction.

Talk With Your Audience!

Sometimes, as small business owners try to promote their business they end up talking AT their potential customers. Facebook, and social media platforms in general, want to create meaningful conversations between their users – making sure you are opening the conversation up to your target audience will help your content be pushed out by Facebook.

Okay but how exactly do I do that?

Try to open up the conversation by asking your audience for their opinions (which is your favorite?), including user generated content (share a post created by a customer about your small business), and respond to any comments made on your posts.
